I had enough of tumblr, the new “it” blog space.

I realized you can not comment. Why not?! That makes the whole blogging experience so beneficial!

Raining?!

Uh oh..it’s raining all of a sudden.

And I didn’t bring my umbrella. :(

HATING tumblr.

Tumblr is suppose to be the “new, hip, trendy” blog space of the net right now.

I am hating it.

It does not understand simple HTML and text does not go according to where you want it to (I want the text to go before and after the pictures, not NEXT to it!!).

So, I’m sorry for the extremely ugly previous post. It’s annoying, I know.

Which brings up a thought, even if a product is the new “it” product, you will lose many frustrated customers because you do not make the product easy to use. Sounds like a “duh” fact, but tumblr is definitely not making it easy for me to post a simple entry with pictures and text. The interface is intuitive all right, but for some reason, it is not understanding code…..hmmmm…..???

Saturday (even though I'm posting on a Sunday...)

Yesterday was a blur of registration, learning to navigate the huge conference and extremely bad pizza.

Antonia and I checked into the Omni hotel and architecturally, it’s AMAZING. It’s a building within a building - made of glass. You walk in and to your right are office spaces and on the left are the hotel rooms. It looks absolutely incredible. I’ve seen this concept at the Fidelty building on Market x Post, which in my opinion, is not as successful. I think the ability to have a large spacious area and high ceilings are key to make this work (the Fidelity building is short and stumpy).

After checking in, we went to eat pizza at Roppolo’s Pizzaria (like Cybelle’s). It was HORRIBLE. The crust was as hard as a brick and definitely one of the worst pizza slices I’ve ever had. It didn’t look that bad when we ordered it and I was thinking, “he’s reheating it, it should be hot and delicious!” Boy, was I wrong. By the way, everything’s big in Texas! My 50 cent water was in an XXXL cup and the slice of pizza was quite large.

We got to the convention, checked in, did all that stuff….and realized I was probably the only one without an iPhone. Almost 99% of the people I saw had an iPhone. Upon arrival, my impression of the convention is a sea of geekiness (ie. a section where guys can show off their moves on Rock Band). But hey, I’m here, so I must be a geek too.

Antonia and I then went to a panel titled, “Interactive Media Trends - Are You On Top Of It?” What a disappointment. I expected to, hmmm…learn about interactive trends….? Instead, it was a panel hosted by Sun Microsystems that pushed their products and tried to entice the audience by giving away a ps3 and drink tickets. I later saw a flyer for the discussion called, “Learn How To Attract Interaction In Your Media.” Umm…definitely misleading.

The convention is huge and there are so many things to see. We haven’t even stepped foot into the tradeshow, an overflow of gadgets. Oh yeah, I saw this board full of posters and thought this was a really cool design. It’s for a documentary film that is showcased at the film festival.

That’s all for now…it’s about 2:41AM here…tomorrow, I’ll post about Zuckerberg’s (CEO of Facebook) keynote and the friendly, down-to-earth guys of http://icanhascheezburger.com/

Tomorrow

Yay! I’m leaving tomorrow to go to Austin! I’m really excited.

As you can see, I’ve over booked my calendar with a whole bunch of panels I want to attend. There are so many, I want to go to all of them!
